Sri Lanka is a highly religious country which honor each of the Religion. For many centuries Buddhism and Hinduism were the only religion practiced until Portuguese of 15th century who introduced the Christianity. The Islamism was practised by Arabian traders some time they settled in Sri Lanka marrying Sinhala or  Tamil Women.

Many gods worshipped in Sri Lanka are Hindu Gods. Thereare several local gods worshiped. According to buddhism a person attaining higher level of life will be born in heaven as  protector of people.

Additionally many local gods worshiped in certain regions.  There are many festivals and rituals conducted by Sri Lankans for the Gods.

There are thousands of Small and large Shrines built for gods. Some places only contain a tree and a threeshula but receive a great honor.

There are special Dances and forms of Singing in Local festivals for many gods of Sri Lanka.
